Balayage is a French word meaning 'to sweep. While there are many methods to create this effect, they have one thing in common- highlights and lowlights are created by sweeping haircolor on the surface. This hand-painting technique creates softer highlights than typically created with foils, because there is a transition from non-colored to colored areas of the section. Whether long hair or short, the results provide more natural, believable options for the client. Redken has developed a unique paddle to assist in creating beautiful Balayage results. By placing the paddle under the strands to be highlighted, the sturdy surface provides support to ensure thorough saturation towards the ends for even lightening results.
